InspiritAI -a program by a team of Stanford and MIT graduates for AI- opportunity

Hi guys! I am here to share my experience participating in the Inspirit AI program; a program by a team of Stanford and MIT graduates that exposes high school students to the wonders of artificial intelligence! In my case, I first discovered this program without even knowing what AI really meant. The notion of AI -in my mind- has really associated itself with the robotic dog that I read MIT done years ago, as one of those conversational AI that can imitate a real person, as Elon Musk discussing the danger of AI against humanity, for I have imagined AI as a blue cloud of connected line segments in the shape of a gigantic brain. However, as you might’ve guessed, I was wrong in most of these cases. As much as I would like it to be, AI is not a gigantic blue-clouded brain after all (well not in the way that you would’ve imagined it).

According to IBM’s definition of AI, “artificial intelligence [is something that] leverages computers and machines to mimic the problem-solving and decision-making capabilities of the human mind.” Ranging from fields such as computer vision, speech recognition, and natural language processing, to projects such as self-driving cars, voice assistants, and detecting fake news: as long as you name it, AI can do it. Below are some areas that Inspirit AI covers, for you to explore and develop during the extent of their programs.

Okay, so, what did I think of the program? Well, that is an interesting question, because I should give a good review as I am an Inspirit AI ambassador… but I do want to be honest here. The naked truth is -I like the program! Despite the good learning experience itself, there are plenty of great resources and lesson plans that really dive into the nitty gritty of AI and its applications. Nevertheless, there are top-tier speakers from either ranked universities or companies to discuss current AI topics and issues. Overall, if anything, I loved the vast exposure to AI fields, the quality of the learning materials (saving tons of time researching), and the hands-on coding projects like understanding Siri or classifying objects in real-time.

If you are interested, there is an AI Symposium hosted by Inspirit AI on Sunday, November 20th. Here is an invitational message by Inspirit AI and further details:

High School AI Research Across Disciplines - Free Webinar Event by Stanford and MIT Graduates

Join our team of Stanford and MIT graduates at Inspirit AI to learn how high schoolers can wield AI and develop their own research in any discipline! To register for this free educational Symposium, please visit our Inspirit AI Eventbrite, and write down the name of the “Student Ambassador” who shared the event with you (Zhirui Chen). We will hear spotlight talks and beginner-friendly workshops from AI experts at Stanford, MIT, Microsoft, NASA, and more on how to dive into the world of AI! The event will be held on Sunday, November 20th from 11am - 1pm Pacific Time, and is open to all students and their families, as well as educators of all grade levels. To learn more about Inspirit AI, we encourage you to visit our website—we look forward to seeing you at the Symposium! Attendees will also receive a free Fundamentals of AI Guide, as well as a recording of the event!

With that said, I hope this article has piqued your interest in either the program or AI (and coding) in general! And since I am an Inspirit AI ambassador, I would deeply appreciate it if you write down Zhirui Chen as the name of the student ambassador!
