Early Summer:
- Early May-early July
- Registration opens for a few weeks in March
Late Summer:
- August 8 - August 17
- Registration will open in early summer
- A shorter time period will mean that lessons will aim to focus on introductory biology and chemistry, as well as research in those fields.
Fall Session:
- For 2021: September 18 - December 18
- Registration will open in the summer
Illumina Learning is an organization that provides opportunities for students to explore and learn more about various topics of biology. This program and its courses are directed by some of the nation’s nationally recognized students within various fields of science, some of which include:
- Research Science Institute Students (RSI)
- USABO semifinalists
- USNCO finalists
- AIME qualifiers
- ISEF finalists
- Scholastic medalists
- Science Olympiad national medalists
Illumina offers introductory courses regarding aspects of research and competitive biology. Biology-related courses include:
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Biochemistry
- Cell Biology
- Genetics
- Vertebrate Studies
Research-oriented courses include:
- Introduction to Research
- Scientific Writing for Publication
- Epidemiology
- Immunology
- Neuroscience
Research-oriented courses include mini-research projects that will receive individual guidance and feedback from the instructor. As a current high school junior, I wished that there were more opportunities out there such as this for me to learn about certain and rather niche topics before coming into high school and going into college. This is a great opportunity to learn more about subjects you’re interested in, and to get ahead in classes and clubs at school!
